YOUR GIFT CAN MAKE THE
DIFFERENCE
Capital One ("What's in Your Wallet?")
has pledged a challenge grant of $26,000 to Hopkins House in
support of the Children's Scholarship Fund. This Fund
provides scholarships to children from low-income, working
families to attend the Hopkins House Preschool Academy.
These working families often earn too much to qualify for
government childcare assistance and yet too little to afford the
full cost of quality childcare for their children. In
2007, scholarships helped 67 children attend quality preschool.
Capital One will match donations to the Children's Scholarship
Fund, dollar-for-dollar, up to $26,000. For example,
* Your
gift of $1,000 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by
Capital One for a total gift of
$2,000 to the
Children's Scholarship Fund.
* Your gift of $500 will be matched
dollar-for-dollar by Capital One for a total gift of
$1,000 to the Children's Scholarship Fund.
* Your
gift of $250 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by
Capital One for a total gift of
$500 to the
Children's Scholarship Fund.
* Your
gift of $100 will be matched dollar-for-dollar by
Capital One for a total gift of
$200 to the
Children's Scholarship Fund.
You can double the value of your gift to the Children's
Scholarship Fund and help to meet the Capital One challenge.

In 2007, 446 individuals, foundations, institutions of faith and
businesses donated $730,000 in cash, equipment, and services to
Hopkins House.
Hopkins House received $1.3-million in total revenue.
Nearly half came from donations and grants, with the remainder
coming from tuition, government grants, and investment income.

In 2007, more than half of Hopkins House's total financial
resources were expended on programs and direct services to
children and families, with the remainder used for the
operational support and resource development activities of the
organization.

Since 1939, Hopkins House has provided quality care and
education to the children of working, low-income families.
These families often earn too little in their full-time
employment to afford quality childcare and too much to qualify
for most government assistance. Without Hopkins House
these children and their families would have fewer choices for
quality care.
Hopkins House stands out among other community non-profits by
focusing on the challenges families often face in achieving
their goals: locating affordable, quality childcare for their
children; getting reliable information about family budgeting,
saving, and owning a home; finding affordable housing in the
local community.
